Warning, pretty big file

Did this up for a buddy of mine who told me he's struggling with drawing heads at odd angles. Since I've been doing a lot of practice in that area, I thought I'd give doing a tutorial a shot!

Part 2 to follow, perhaps. I'm thinking I'll show a 3/4 rear shot for that one. A less commonly used angle, but an important one to master.

I don't claim to be an expert here, I'm just trying to show ya'll how I do things (I'm sort of re-learning as I go, in fact! :XD: 'Teaching' puts things into a different perspective). I hope it helps.

Critique of my method is encouraged if you see I'm doing something wrong and can help me out, or if you see I how could improve something, please let me know! I really appreciate any tips I can get ;P

Same goes for all my deviations, really :aww: I want to get better! That's a big part of why I'm here. =D

Your method is actually quite similar to mine. :o

Why should I be sane, being insane is FUN!
Great tutorial, and another shiny :+fav: star for you! This will defnately help me, so thank you!

I'm DEFINATELY no expert, but here's my current method built up from various tutorials and self-experience:

Instead of just drawing the profile of the muzzle, I tend to start off with a box shape (for a male) or a cylinder (for a female) just below the half-way line on the initial sphere shape. Then I go on to smooth it out and make it rounder to form the finished head. I find it tends to help get the angle more accurate, as it gives you more of a rough shape to follow.

Here's an example showing the basic shapes of a male head how I do them (I have already started to smooth out the box by turning it into more of a wedge shape, but the basic principle's still there) -> [link]

MOVED.
Sweet this will come in handy

When I want to do a art request for you.
That's a pretty generic method, however I've never seen it explained so well before. Not the method I use, but it's a good help for anyone watning to know! Great work!

...and if it moves... kill it.
Wow, that's the way to draw you? Cool
Guideline are for the weak! Or so I thought before I realized how useful they could be. Not bad at all, 'ere. Up tilted is a tough pose so this is quite useful. Nice job. Look forward to a part two...(I must get one of those off-brands someday...)
